We have been creating investment land portfolios in Romania since 2002. Today, we manage over €14m in assets. Exceptional growth across this portfolio led us to launch our first UK investment fund, the Romanian Agricultural Land Fund. The fund raised €7m and is on course to achieve estimated >40% growth during 2009 despite the down turn.
The team is headed by Edward Russell and Simon Pearce-Hughes.
Edward Russell has founded a number of companies, including The Source PLC which was sold in 2005 for €30m. In 2002 he moved to Romania, inspired by the outstanding investment potential there. He has achieved growth of several hundred per cent on his own Romanian land portfolio and is adept at handling the special administrative and commercial procedures in that country.
Dr Simon Pearce-Hughes. Simon is based in London and began his career as a medical researcher, his initial contact with Romania being via a charity working with institutionalised children. Today, he is the director of two Romanian real estate investment companies and the investment adviser to the Romanian Eagle Land Fund. Both real estate companies have achieved returns of several hundred per cent for investors.
The team also includes a local farming group with seven years' experience of farming, support farming and tenanting of sites. Together, they have acquired more than 2,000 hectares of agricultural land for investors during 2008-9 and are currently processing a €1m in UK investment.
